Metroen sætter ny passagerrekord
A record number of passengers chose to travel on the Metro in March. The M3 line M3/M4 and the entire Metro network both set records.
‘We expect 20 per cent more passengers in 2023 compared to 2022. With these two records, we are on the right track, even though we still have a long way to go. We know that many people haven't quite got the M3 line M3/M4 under their skin yet, which is why there is great potential for more passengers. Together with walking and cycling, the Metro is the most attractive and climate-friendly transport option in the capital. The Metro has grown, which is why the use of the Metro by citizens and visitors to the city should also increase significantly in these years,’ says Rebekka Nymark, CEO of Metroselskabet.
The latest record for the entire Metro network was in November 2019, when just over 10 million passengers travelled on the Metro in one month. In March, 10.9 million passengers travelled on one of the Metro's lines:
‘This emphasises that customers have really started to embrace the M3 line and are happy with it. That doesn't change the fact that a new line needs time for customers to get to know it and see the possibilities. Covid-19 and the lockdowns slowed down customers‘ opportunities to get to know the M3 line and its stations, but things are now moving in the right direction again,’ says Rebekka Nymark.
Contributing to sustainable mobility
Almost five million passengers travelled on the M3 line M3/M4 in March. This record beat the previous record from December 2022, when 4.2 million passengers used the Metro.
‘Passengers are delighted with the many new opportunities that the M3 line combined with the Metro as a whole offers them in their everyday lives and that they know they can count on. Taken together, the two records show that the Metro, together with cycling and walking, is helping to ensure collective sustainable mobility for the citizens of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. But the work continues to get more passengers, and we are constantly looking at the possibility of new initiatives,’ says Rebekka Nymark, CEO of Metroselskabet.
