What are we building at Copenhagen South?
Copenhagen South has, over the past couple of years, transformed into a national transport hub, serving as a new gateway in and out of the capital, with an entirely new district on the way.
The metro station, the common transfer area, as well as a number of new stairs, elevators, and pedestrian tunnels are completed and in operation, so at the moment only a single construction project is underway at Copenhagen South.

Stairs and Elevator to the Køge Bugt Line
In the spring of 2025, we began constructing a new staircase and elevator from the interchange area to track 1 of the Køge Bugt Line.
The new staircase and elevator, which stops at all three levels – the interchange area, street level, and the platform at track 1 – will become part of the interchange area, making it even easier in the future to switch between all modes of transport at Copenhagen South via the interchange area that connects the station.
The new staircase and elevators are being built just south of the Køge Bugt Line between the Øresund tracks and the Copenhagen-Ringsted line, where work is taking place in a smaller area extending from the previous construction site at Strømmen. The staircase and elevator are expected to be operational in the late spring of 2026.

Noise and compensation
Noise and compensation
Unique to the Metro construction project, some parts of the construction allow for compensation to neighbours according to a fixed set of rules.
