Sustainability Consultant for the Metro of the Future

Vacancytype: Full timeApplication deadline: 5. juni 2026

Would you like to help develop and implement sustainable solutions in some of Denmark’s largest infrastructure projects? Do you have solid experience and professional insight within construction projects, climate, biodiversity and resource consumption — and are you motivated by turning sustainability into concrete requirements and solutions in major infrastructure projects, while also contributing to the implementation and delivery of the construction phase? If so, you may be our new Sustainability Consultant at Metroselskabet.

About the role
At Metroselskabet, we work with the development, construction, operation and maintenance of the Copenhagen Metro. At the same time, we are preparing and delivering new metro projects where sustainability plays a central role. We are therefore looking for a Sustainability Consultant to support our work to reduce the climate impact, resource consumption and biodiversity footprint of new metro line construction.

You will become part of an ambitious professional environment and play an important role in supporting, developing and embedding sustainability in the planning and delivery of major construction projects.

Your primary responsibilities
You will join the Sustainability Team, and your responsibilities will include:

  • analysing and documenting the climate impact of new metro line construction
  • identifying and developing initiatives to reduce CO₂ emissions and resource consumption
  • contributing to strategies and concrete solutions within circular economy and resource use
  • supporting the development of sustainability requirements in tenders and contracts, as well as follow-up activities
  • working closely with project managers, technical specialists, consultants and contractors
  • monitoring developments in legislation, standards and methods within sustainability
  • building networks with other infrastructure owners and engaging in dialogue with the market
  • contributing to the development of new sustainability goals and strategies, and helping anchor sustainability initiatives across the organisation

Your profile
We would like you to have:

  • a relevant higher education degree, for example in engineering
  • at least 3 years of experience with building and civil engineering projects as a client, contractor or consultant
  • experience with climate impact assessments/life cycle assessment, and knowledge of methods and practice in this field
  • experience with tendering, contract management and follow-up
  • strong analytical skills and experience with project management
  • strong collaboration and communication skills
  • good communication skills in both Danish and English

What we offer:

  • At Metroselskabet, you will have the opportunity to work with critical infrastructure that plays an important role in the development of Greater Copenhagen. You will become part of an organisation with strong professional expertise and complex projects, where collaboration and responsibility go hand in hand.
  • We offer, among other things, an important role in the development of more sustainable metro projects, as well as a strong professional environment with engaged colleagues and good opportunities for both professional and personal development.
  • We offer salary based on qualifications, attractive and flexible employment terms, a good working environment and supportive colleagues. We also offer a paid lunch break and the possibility of working from home.
