Operational stability of the Copenhagen Metro

We measure how often we drive on time

Metro on time

The punctuality of departures on the entire Metro is calculated every day.

The punctuality of departures was 99 per cent in 2024. For rush hour, the operational stability was 99 per cent in 2024.

How to calculate the Metro's operational stability

Instead of an actual timetable, the Metro runs with a fixed time interval between trains. Operational stability is calculated by looking at the number of actual departures compared to the number of scheduled departures. Specifically, the metro day is divided into three-minute intervals. For each interval, the number of theoretical departures (the departures that should be) is compared to the number of actual departures from all stations.

This is how we arrive at the operational stability of the Metro.

When the Metro runs with up to 99 per cent punctuality, it doesn't mean that you can be 99 per cent sure that the train will arrive as usual. There may be planned operational changes due to track work, which is not reflected in the operational stability figures. This is because the calculation is based on the assumption that the change is planned and therefore it will not appear as a disruption in the operational stability calculation.
