The board began the meeting with a minute's silence in honor of the 40-year-old man who lost his life on May 4, 2021, in connection with a crane lift at the Ny Ellebjerg metro construction site. The Metro Company's board expresses its deepest sympathy to the deceased employee and his relatives. The Board of Directors was then given a review of the circumstances surrounding the accident that have been clarified at this point in time, as well as a briefing on the feedback from the Danish Working Environment Authority. Metroselskabet, together with the main contractor, TUNN3L, has launched an investigation with the assistance of external specialists to determine the exact cause of the tragic accident and ensure that lessons are learned so that similar accidents can be prevented.

There is still uncertainty about the reopening of society after COVID-19. However, Metroselskabet believes that, with the current plan for vaccinations and easing of restrictions, it is likely that the company will be able to return to normal Metro operations by August. By that time, commuters and other frequent passengers are expected to be returning to work or study in person. The board of directors therefore approved the marketing plan for the next phase, which aims to bring customers back quickly with marketing and product initiatives and increase travel. In addition, the board of directors was presented with how the company measures the effect of the action plan's initiatives.

"The company faces a major task in the coming years to bring customers back and restore growth. In this work, Metroselskabet must ensure that all our passengers will choose the metro again. The primary focus will be on bringing customers back so that passenger numbers can be brought into line with passenger forecasts. The changes will, of course, be made on the basis of and in accordance with the authorities' guidelines in force at any given time," says Jørn Neergaard Larsen, Chairman of the Board of Metroselskabet.

In October 2020, the board decided to initiate a market dialogue to strengthen the conditions for planning and designing future metro lines so that they are environmentally and socially sustainable. At the meeting, the board received a status report on analyses of new lines and an update on the market dialogue, in which Metroselskabet has, among other things, investigated opportunities for using other methods and exploiting new technology. Among other things, a series of meetings has been held with both Danish and international companies that are considered to be leaders in sustainable project development and construction.

Finally, the Board of Directors was briefed on Metroselskabet's work to reduce the nuisance caused by audible trains. Unfortunately, over the past six months, the company has seen an increase in the measured vibration level from Metro operations, as well as a growing number of neighbors who are bothered by noise. Therefore, external consulting assistance has now been obtained to identify the causes of the increases. This analysis work is expected to be completed by the summer.
