Data Engineer at Metroselskabet
Help expand the data setup for a world-class Metro and Light Rail
Are you passionate about developing high level technical solutions while having close cooperation with the end users? Are you looking for a place where you have access to multiple data sources and get time allocated to develop both skills and proper solutions with high business value? Do coding, data and pipelines belong to your standard vocabulary and does teamwork with daily technical discussions motivate you?
Then this job is the right one for you.
At Metroselskabet you will work alongside 400 colleagues to build and operate a world-class Metro and Light Rail for Greater Copenhagen. You will have responsibility, influence, and the freedom to bring your ideas to life within a strong professional community.
We are looking for a dedicated Data Engineer to join our Data Insight team
The Data Insight team develops and operates our data platform, which supports KPI monitoring, ticket/Rejsekort data, IoT sources, ESG reporting, automation, advanced analytics and, increasingly, streaming data. Our Google Cloud setup grows continuously, and business demand for more insight and new data sources is rising, which is why we are expanding the team.
In this role, you will work across the full value chain: architecture, design, hands-on development, quality assurance, and daily operations. You will collaborate closely with business units to deliver solutions with real operational and strategic impact.
Your main responsibilities
- Design and develop backend data solutions in Google Cloud
- Build and maintain pipelines, dataflows and serverless functions
- Implement secure data integration and API solutions
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve daily operational data processes
- Contribute to DevOps practices including CI/CD, code reviews and infrastructure-as-code
- Work closely with business stakeholders to identify needs and deliver high-value insights
What do we expect from you?
We are looking for a colleague who:
- Holds a relevant IT-related degree or has equivalent practical experience
- Has experience with backend development and data engineering
- Has hands-on experience with Python and SQL/BigQuery
- Has profound experience on serverless functions (Cloud Functions, Lambdas, etc.)
- Understands secure data integration and API platforms
- Is proactive, collaborative and motivated by technical discussions and teamwork
- Experienced in Google Cloud or strong skills in similar cloud platforms and a desire to upskill in GCP
What we offer
You will join the Data Insight track in an agile environment where professional development, team collaboration and knowledge sharing are key priorities.
We offer:
- A strong and supportive technical community with daily sparring
- A DevOps-oriented team with focus on stability, automation and robustness
- Time allocated for skill development and building long-term, high-quality solutions
- A team focused friendly, international and collaborative work culture
- Flexible working conditions and a healthy work-life balance
- An office in Ørestad near Vestamager Metro Station
- A free employee Metro card for an easy daily commute
You will be part of a development team of 22 colleagues — including 5 specialists working with Data Analytics, Visualizations and ML/AI. The team is part of our Digitalization & IT unit with more than 60 employees and growing.
