General info about noise and compensation
Construction is sometimes noisy, and as a citizen of a big city, you generally have to accept that you will occasionally be a neighbour to noisy buildings. It could be a new road, the construction of a school or other new building - or the construction of new infrastructure.
We do what we can to minimise noise pollution, but we can't build new infrastructure without occasionally making noise.
Unique to the metro construction project, the Construction Act and the Neighbourhood Package Order allow Metroselskabet to compensate neighbours during the noisiest periods of night work. These rules apply specifically to the Metro construction project - you can read more about it here.
Different rules for the construction projects
The tunnels are being built as part of the Metro and interchange area, which is being built according to the construction law for the City Ring. Therefore, we measure the noise and provide compensation to the neighbours if the construction is noisy at night for a longer period of time.
We are building the Øresund platforms on behalf of Banedanmark and according to the Railway Act, which does not allow for compensation. Here, the construction follows the same noise rules as other construction projects in Copenhagen.
