Copenhagen South

New gateway in and out of the capital

Copenhagen South is the traffic hub of the future. With the new metro station, which opened in the summer of 2024, the Metro is helping to turn the station into a new national transport hub. Many passengers will switch modes of transport here in the coming years, as the station will serve as a new gateway in and out of the capital. Copenhagen South will also relieve Copenhagen Central Station, which currently has a lot of traffic.

Common transfer area

From the new underground transfer area, which is the heart of the station, you can access the Metro, S-trains, regional and IC trains. And in the transfer area you can stock up for your journey at 7-Eleven, located right at the entrance to the Metro. In 10 minutes you're at the City Hall Square in the heart of the capital.

Good connections

There are already good connections from Copenhagen South to the rest of the capital and the rest of the country. When the station is expanded with two new platforms for the Øresund trains - and a pedestrian tunnel under the tracks to the area south of the station - the station will have even better opportunities for train connections to the rest of the country and Copenhagen Airport. In the longer term, it is also expected that international trains between Germany and Sweden will be able to stop at Copenhagen South.

Urban development in Copenhagen South

In the coming years, the area around the station will change. A whole new neighbourhood is on its way under the name Copenhagen South City.

Construction work is still ongoing

Although the Metro station and transfer area are open and operational, work on the new transport hub is still ongoing. That's why you can still see construction machinery and fences in the southern part of the station, and while you wait for your next connection, you can see the new transport hub emerge with your own eyes.
