NB! The requirement to wear a face mask on public transport has been reintroduced as of 29 November 2021 and applies to both trains and the entire station area.
As of Saturday 14 August, wearing a face mask is no longer required on the Metro and other public transport.
For just over a year it has been mandatory to wear a face mask or visor when travelling by bus, train and Metro, but from Saturday 14 August it's entirely up to the individual. Recently, the requirement has been relaxed so that it only applied when boarding and exiting and when standing up on the Metro, and our Metro Stewards have been handing out free face masks to passengers who forgot them on the go. Now the last remnant of the face mask requirement has been lifted and all restrictions on using public transport are now lifted. As the rules have changed at short notice, there may be conflicting information in the metro system for a short transition period, but we are working to get all communication updated as soon as possible.
Continued focus on safety
Some passengers will need the extra reassurance that a face mask or visor can give them, and they are of course free to do so. Hand sanitiser will continue to be available free of charge at all stations, and we will continue our extra cleaning efforts.
