Facts about the month of September in the Metro:
- 11.2 million passengers travelled on the four metro lines in September. This is a record.
- 5 million passengers travelled on the M3/M4 lines in September - also a record.
- Sunday 15 September was a record-breaking Sunday with around 400,000 passengers, partly due to the half marathon.
Stations with particularly high growth since last year:
- Bella Center: Approx. 20 per cent growth since September 2023, partly due to major urban development right next to the station.
- Airport: Approximately 10 per cent growth since September 2023, partly due to high growth in flight activity at the airport.
- The 5 new stations on the M4 South Harbour. Approximately 10 per cent of passenger numbers on the M3/M4 in September were measured at the 5 Sydhavn stations, which together had around ½ million passengers in September.
A record number of passengers travelled on the Metro in September. The four lines M1, M2, M3 and M4 had a total of 11.2 million passengers - the highest number ever travelled on the Metro in a single month. This means that virtually all Danes travelled on the Metro twice during the period.
"We are of course very happy about that. More and more people can see the benefits of getting around the city quickly and easily with the Metro, which is the most sustainable means of public transport in the capital," says Hanne Tærsbøl Schmidt, Director of Metroselskabet.
Success for five new stations
According to Metroselskabet, there are several reasons why a record number of people chose the metro as their preferred mode of transport in September:
"The five new stations on the M4 to Sydhavn and Valby have been very well received. In the first period, there were twice as many passengers as expected, which shows that the many neighbours and businesses in the areas have quickly embraced the stations. In addition, we are continuing our efforts to raise awareness of the benefits of the Metro to the many newcomers to Copenhagen, so they can quickly benefit from the Metro to get around the city," says Hanne Tærsbøl Schmidt.
