Now children and young people can also travel digitally on the Metro: the Rejsekort app is now available for under-18s
Facts
- Children and young people under the age of 18 can now be registered in the Rejsekort app by a parent or guardian.
- The app provides check-out reminders and eliminates the need for physical cards.
- Over 1.3 million people have downloaded the app, which has been used for more than 24 million journeys.
- Metro passengers are the most active users of the Rejsekort app in Denmark.
- The Rejsekort app offers the same discounts as the physical card, including a 20% discount outside rush hour and discounts for young people and senior citizens.
The Rejsekort app, which has had over 1.3 million users since it launched in September 2024, just got a new feature: Kids and teens under 18 can now use the app if their parents set it up and pay for their trips.
At the same time, a new survey shows that Metro passengers are the most digitally savvy among the country's public transport users – and that they have particularly embraced the Rejsekort app.
"Metro customers love digital solutions, which is why they were among the first to embrace the Rejsekort app. The new feature makes it even easier and more flexible to travel as a family or as a child or young person on the Metro – without worrying about forgotten cards or check-outs," says Eva Lind, Commercial Director at Metroselskabet.
In 2024, almost 35,000 forgotten check-outs were recorded among children and young people with physical Rejsekort cards. That challenge is now a thing of the past for those who start using the app. It automatically reminds users to check out and eliminates the need to order or replace plastic cards.
With 126 million passengers in 2024, the Metro had its highest passenger numbers ever. And with the opening of the M4 to Sydhavn and Valby, even more passengers are expected in 2025. The Rejsekort app thus supports the digital travel experience for a growing group of passengers in the capital's public transport system.
