Søren Boysen will replace DSB's train fleet with the Metro when he becomes the new Director of Operations and Maintenance for Metroselskabet on 1 February 2024. He comes from a position as Deputy Director of DSB Vedligehold and will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Metro in Copenhagen, which includes future reinvestments.

In 2022, the first metro lines celebrated their 20th birthday. This means that the need for maintenance and development will increase so that the Metro can maintain the same high level and live up to the expectations of up to 400,000 daily passengers.

Experience provides momentum on new lines

The current Director of Operations and Maintenance, Rebekka Nymark, will be the new Director of New Lines, where there is a strong focus on innovation, new technology and sustainability.

In 2024, the M4 to Sydhavnen will open, while an extension of the line to Ydre Nordhavn is being planned and a completely new M5 line is on the drawing board. Environmental impact assessments, consultation processes, route planning, and later tenders and contract negotiations will be carried out.

But the work of making all the ends meet in the planning, consultation and tendering phases is extremely complex. And with our goal of halving CO2 emissions on the coming lines, we have an extra focus on innovation and sustainability on the M4 to Ydre Nordhavn and M5.
