News from the Board
From the Board meeting on November 28, 2025

In November, the metro carried 12.2 million passengers, which was 3% higher than in the same month last year. Year-on-year, passenger numbers grew by 8% compared with 2024. In November, the M1/M2 and M3/M4 lines had an overall punctuality rate of 99.5% and 99.2%, respectively. Recently, the company has observed an increasing trend of elevator malfunctions at stations, caused by vandalism, wear and tear, and age, among other things. A decision has therefore been made to upgrade the operational stability and functionality of the elevators.

As a result of a changed threat landscape and more advanced vandalism against the Metro, Metroselskabet is now consolidating its work on cyber security, physical security, and emergency preparedness into a single focus area. The goal is to strengthen resilience against threats to operations, facilities, and reputation. Cybersecurity is being strengthened through clear requirements for the operator's systems and a joint plan with external security experts. Physical security includes testing new surveillance technologies, security systems, increased inspection and guard patrols, etc. Emergency response is being developed in close collaboration with the Capital Region Emergency Response Service.

"When the threat landscape changes, we must change with it and consider what this means for the Metro as part of the capital's critical infrastructure. Our security must be as robust as the service we provide every day. By bringing together cyber security, physical security, and emergency preparedness in one place, we are raising the bar and creating a more targeted and effective effort. This is crucial to protecting both the Metro and the business we are here to run," says Tommy Ahlers, Chairman of the Board of Metroselskabet.

Finally, the board received a status update on the company's work to protect the Metro against storm surges and extreme rainfall. Compared to other infrastructure, the Metro is well protected against extreme weather events, and climate protection has been incorporated into the design since the construction of M1 and M2. In the future, however, the risk will only increase due to rising water levels and more extreme weather conditions. Metroselskabet works on a risk-based approach and continuously assesses risks and how the company can appropriately manage them. Among other things, the company is participating in the work on a joint storm surge protection for Copenhagen based on a new protection level corresponding to a 10,000-year event.
