The popularity of the Metro continues to rise, which is clearly reflected in passenger numbers. In November, passenger numbers in week 49 ended at 3.1 million, which is the first time that passenger numbers have exceeded 3 million in a week. At the same time, Friday, December 5, was the second busiest day in the history of the Metro with 540,000 passengers.

Overall, this development supports continued high monthly passenger numbers. In November, 12.2 million passengers traveled by the Metro, which is 3% higher than in the same month last year. The prerequisite for high passenger numbers is stable operations, and in November, M1/M2 and M3/M4 had operational stability of 99.4% and 99.2%, respectively.

The Board of Directors has approved the company's budget for 2026, which includes the operating budget and investment budget. At the same time, the long-term budget has been updated to include M4 Ydre Nordhavn and M5, which means an extension of the repayment period for the company's debt by six years.

"The Metro is entering 2026 on a strong footing. 135 million passengers – an increase of 8% – in 2025 shows that demand is high and continues to grow. At the same time, we are embarking on the next phase, where the major expansions of the Metro with M5 and the extension of M4 in Nordhavn will be crucial to Copenhagen's further development. These are long-term investments that will ensure capacity and cohesion in a growing capital city," says Tommy Ahlers, Chairman of the Board of Metroselskabet.

In connection with the extension of the M4 to Ydre Nordhavn, the Board of Directors has approved the naming of the two new stations. The naming has been carried out in accordance with the company's principles for station names and in collaboration with By & Havn. The stations will be called Levantkaj and Nordsø Plads, respectively, and the names have been submitted to the relevant authorities, including the City of Copenhagen and the Ministry of Culture.
