At the meeting, the board received an update on operations. Metro has seen a growth in passenger numbers, and in the first 10 months of the year, there have been 14% more journeys in Metro than in the same period last year. The Company has estimated 122 million journeys in 2023, compared to 108 million journeys in 2022. Operational stability in the same period was 99.4% for the lines as a whole.

The Company's work on climate protection against flooding, which can affect the Metro's infrastructure and operations, was also presented to the Board. The Metro has a generally high level of protection so that the Metro can withstand so-called 2000-year events for 100 years from commissioning. However, climate change means that expectations for extreme rainfall and storm surges have changed in recent years. 

Climate protection is a high priority for Metroselskabet, which is participating in a preliminary study of a joint storm surge plan for Copenhagen coordinated by the Ministry of Transport.

"Climate change has a major impact on the Metro's level of protection. However, the global changes mean that it does not only make sense to focus on the Metro in isolation. The Metro is part of the capital, and climate-proofing Copenhagen is also climate-proofing the Metro. The Company therefore actively contributes to the work of flood-proofing Copenhagen together with other infrastructure owners, ministries and other authorities. The Company also focuses on continuously analyzing the level of protection and retrofitting vulnerable stations as experts and authorities update their assessments for extreme rain and storm surges," says Jørn Neergaard Larsen, Chairman of the Board of The Company.

Metroselskabet is preparing the extension of the M4 to København Syd for opening in 2024. The project is entering the final important phase of finalizing architectural work and testing trains and control systems.

At the meeting, The Company was also presented with the results of the market dialog that the Company has conducted in connection with the tender for new operations and maintenance services. tender for a new operation and maintenance contract. The current operation and maintenance contracts expire in 2027.

In addition, the Board was informed that Metroselskabet, together with 13 other public developers at the Green Gear Shift conference, signed an agreement to require contractors to use emission-free work machines in the future.
