The Metro's passenger numbers in April were 10.6 million passengers, which was 2% higher than the same month last year. The total number of passengers in the Metro for the first four months of the year was 43.7 million.

At the meeting, the Board focused on the security of the Metro's digital systems, which is crucial for it to run stably, safely and with high operational reliability. The importance of working with cyber security has increased, and the board was therefore presented with a number of new initiatives to strengthen security and bring the Metro at the forefront of the upcoming legislation (NIS-2), which comes into force on July 1, 2025.

"As the new chairman of the board, I am committed to ensuring that Metro not only delivers a strong passenger experience here and now, but is also robust in the face of future challenges. A stable operation is not only about trains on time, but also about digital protection of our infrastructure. That's why we need to be one step ahead when it comes to cybersecurity. This is a prerequisite for citizens to have confidence in the Metro as a robust and future-proof part of the city's pulse," says Tommy Ahlers, Chairman of the Metroselskabet Board of Directors.

At the meeting, the board was briefed on the preparations for the tender for a new contract for the operation and maintenance of M1-M4, as the current contracts expire in 2027. The goal is an ambitious and long-term contract that guarantees stable operation, maintenance and development in areas such as sustainability and new technology. The tender will be conducted as an EU tender and will be launched in June 2025.

The Board was also informed about the work on the upcoming M5 metro line, for which The Company took over responsibility in March 2025. The M5 will be established in two stages towards 2045 and will both enable new urban areas such as Østhavnen to be served and relieve the existing metro network. The first stage is expected to open in 2036.

Finally, the board received a follow-up on the extensive maintenance work that is underway to maintain stable operations - both now and in the future. This includes extensive maintenance of the escalators on M1 and M2, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. The work is being carried out in parallel at several stations to optimize the process and minimize waiting time. Passengers are kept informed on an ongoing basis and The Company closely monitors progress through regular status meetings with the operator.

Operations on both M1/M2 and M3/M4 were at a high level in April with an overall punctuality of 99.5% and 99.4% respectively.
