At the meeting, the Board was briefed on passenger numbers on the Metro in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. The Board was also informed that the current restriction, which means that the maximum capacity per Metro train must not exceed 50%, is expected to be severely challenged as Denmark reopens, especially when schools and educational institutions reopen for teaching after the summer.
“Metroselskabet is working with information that focuses on creating safety for passengers and instructing appropriate behavior in the Metro. The company is closely monitoring developments in passenger numbers and making ongoing adjustments,” says Metroselskabet's Chairman of the Board, Jørn Neergaard Larsen.
Since installing hand sanitizer dispensers at Copenhagen Airport, the company has evaluated the initiative, and it is now possible for the operator to guarantee the necessary supply of sanitizer so that hand sanitizer dispensers can be installed at all Metro stations during July 2020.
At the meeting, the board received a report on noise from trains along the M3 Cityringen and M4 Nordhavn lines, the measurements taken, and the work being done to reduce the nuisance to neighbors. On this basis, the board decided to report the completion of the M3 Cityringen and M4 Nordhavn lines to the Expropriation Commission.
Finally, the Board was briefed on the development of a new climate footprint model for the Metro. In 2019, as part of its CSR strategy, the Board of Directors decided to establish a knowledge base in the form of an analysis of the Metro's overall climate impact, focusing on construction and operation, so that targeted efforts can be made where they will have the greatest effect. The company will thus continue its preparatory work to identify opportunities for climate optimising the Metro service to Lynetteholm.
Finally, it should be mentioned that the board of directors was informed that the owners were told at the quarterly meeting on June 22 that the work to establish mobile coverage in M3 and M4 has proven to be more challenging than expected. Metroselskabet and the mobile operators have announced in a joint press release that the parties are working together to solve each of the specific challenges that arise and that it has been agreed that the opening for passenger use of the mobile network can take place in stages as the individual sections are completed. It is therefore expected that the mobile network on the section to Nordhavnen will be ready for use during the summer and on the other sections during the fall.
