At its first meeting of the year, the Metro Company's board of directors was constituted for a new four-year term. The board consists of nine members, with the City of Copenhagen and the Danish government each appointing three members, while the Municipality of Frederiksberg appoints one member and one alternate member. In addition to the members appointed by the owners, the company's employees elect two members to the board.

Prior to the meeting, the Danish government, the City of Copenhagen, and the Municipality of Frederiksberg had jointly appointed Lars Weiss, former Lord Mayor and member of the Copenhagen City Council, and Michael Vindfeldt, Mayor of Frederiksberg, as vice-chairmen. In addition, the City of Copenhagen appointed Helle Bonnesen as a new board member and reappointed Troels Christian Jakobsen, who has been on the board since April 2021. The employees of the metro company elected Anette Alm and re-elected Kirsten Eljena Thomsen as members of the board.

To ensure a smooth transition in the work of the board, two of the state-appointed board members will be appointed no later than the partnership meeting on March 31, 2022. In April 2021, board chairman Jørn Neergaard Larsen was reappointed for another term.

"It is gratifying that the Metro Company's board of directors now has new members who are ready to tackle the tasks and work to strengthen and develop the company's interests over the next four years. The Board of Directors will continue to contribute to strengthening Metroselskabet's important social task of building and operating efficient, sustainable, and coherent infrastructure with respect for neighbors, the environment, and the city," says Chairman of the Board Jørn Neergaard Larsen.

At the meeting, the Board of Directors also decided to set up a recruitment committee to appoint a successor to Metroselskabet's CEO, Henrik Plougmann Olsen. After 12 years of service, he has decided to change jobs to become CEO of HOFOR and will step down from his position at the end of April 2022. If no candidate has been found by this date, an acting CEO will be appointed to the position until a replacement is found.
