At the meeting, Metroselskabet's board of directors approved the annual report for 2021. The report shows that during the pandemic, the company succeeded in keeping society running and ensuring safe transport for the metro's approximately 200,000 daily passengers. In addition, the state compensated Metroselskabet for the consequences of the restrictions, so the result was as expected.
"It is clear that both the shutdown and the restrictions have had an impact on our activities and results. Last year, passenger numbers were 73.4 million, which is approximately half of what was expected. But that is still 10 million more passengers than in 2020. We are therefore confident that we will get passengers back, as we continue to enjoy very high passenger satisfaction and operational stability," says Jørn Neergaard Larsen, Chairman of the Board of Metroselskabet.
The board also approved the company's CSR report for 2021, which assesses the year's efforts and the achievement of goals within specific focus areas. Both the annual report and the CSR report must then be approved by Metroselskabet's owners at the upcoming partnership meeting.
In the summer of 2021, the government's Infrastructure Plan 2035, which all parties in the Danish Parliament have endorsed, allocated DKK 100 million for the implementation of an EIA study of the Metro to Lynetteholm. At the meeting, the board approved the start of preparatory work for the upcoming environmental assessment. This includes project preparation of consulting services and adaptation of the internal organization. In connection with the EIA process, the owners have also requested that a broad idea phase consultation be conducted, in which citizens and stakeholders are invited to provide input on routes and variants.
