At the meeting, the Board of Directors approved the overall framework for Metroselskabet's 2021 budget. In relation to COVID-19, the company's budget is based on the assumption that the direct consequences of the ongoing pandemic cannot be disregarded until the end of 2021. As a result of this uncertainty, the company has therefore chosen to omit new initiatives from the proposed budget, and ongoing adjustments to the budget are also to be expected.
The Board of Directors also discussed the draft of Metroselskabet's CSR report for 2020 and approved the two overall focus areas for 2021: Safety on the right track (formerly working environment) and Sustainable operations and facilities (formerly the green area).
"The focus areas are a further development of last year's objectives, which is in line with the UN Global Compact, which recommends that companies select a few focus areas each year to concentrate their CSR efforts. Among other things, this ensures important continuity in the follow-up work on the decisions made by the Board of Directors in accordance with the working environment strategy and the strategy for the company's green development team," says Jørn Neergaard Larsen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Metroselskabet.
The board was also briefed on Metroselskabet's work to reduce noise pollution from metro trains. The Expropriation Commission is currently considering a number of test cases and will decide on that basis whether the noise pollution exceeds the so-called neighborly tolerance limit. Metroselskabet has entered into dialogue with a group of citizens who experience noise from trains on the M3 Cityringen. The company also continues to focus on reducing the perceived nuisance, including in relation to the maintenance of tracks and trains.
Finally, the board received a status report reviewing the company's communication strategy for the period 2018-2022.
Note: Following the board meeting, the Expropriation Commission published its decision in the cases and found that none of the test cases involved noise nuisance exceeding the so-called neighborly tolerance limit. Metroselskabet is therefore not required to take over any homes or provide compensation in any of the cases.
